How to treat bumblefoot

I'm glad to hear that she's feeling better. The first time doing 'surgery' is always the hardest, but seeing the positive results will help bolster your confidence in the future, knowing the relief that you've given your feathered 'family' member.

Thank you. I really didn’t want to do it, but she tolerated it fine and if it hopes her feel better, it’s definitely worth it :) And now we are prepared if it ever happens again.

We've never seen one get that bad, but for moderate cases, a week or two in a neoprene chicken bootie seems to be the most reliable treatment. We don't always remember, but it's worth the trouble of checking all their feet at least every couple weeks, and keep an eye out for any limping. Catching it early is the way to go.

Just wanted to come back and update. It took quite a while, and we had to open the foot a second time, but she did heal up and get back to her normal self. We did a wrap with antibiotic ointment that we changed every 2-3 days as well. Thank you!
