i got my first birds this summer and need some help. I have ducks, chickens, and quail- They are all in out side pens. The quail are in a rasied pen. The ducks and chickens are in a ground pen. What would you do to make sure they stay warm this winter.

As far south as you are I would just make sure they have shelters where they can get out of the wind and huddle together.

The ducks might not even care. The chickens would like a coop to go into anyway. As for the quail, some windblocks around the bottom of their cages to cut down on drafts might help, but I have seen outdoor setups in PA that just include a small hutch in the cage with a solid bottom that they can go into.

I'm from WI so can't help much...our coop is fully enclosed, fully insulated and has heat lamp for winter. Not sure what they do in your area but I hope someone here can help ya out. Good luck!
