Cool pic Southern. Speckledhen...I take lots of pictures like that, I tend to leave my camera on when I'm walking around and take pictures of my sneakers and my pockets quiet a bit.
Is that an oak,maple or conifer tree BTW? If so, slice the caps in thin strips about 1/8"wide;discard the stems. Use in Asian stir fry or fry in butter,sprinkle thyme rosemary salt black pepper and a glass of merlot or shiraz (red wine.) Let this simmer uncovered on medium heat until most of wine has evaporated;put in some heay cream shot of good brandy and serve over freshly hot-off-the-grill steaks since you have the finest specimens of American Shiitake mushrooms there is! yummy!

Gosh that sounds good carugoman! I'd do it tomorrow if I thought they weren't poisonous, as there's probably several pounds on an old oak here. Wish I knew someone who could identify.
