How / Where to sell eggs

I sell mine at work for $1.50/dozen. I just put up some flyers and also word of mouth; I usually have more customers than I can handle. My regular customers (after family) get first dibs. I just take them to work and drop them off in the switchboard refrigerator- I work shift work and just really don't like folks (other than friends/family) coming to the house at random because it upsets several of my creatures and I'm afraid they'll track who knows what onto the property. Several family members and folks I work with also save me egg cartons (whether or not they get eggs).

For my excess eggs, I advertise them for sale on craigslist.com. with pictures. Within a half hour of posting, I have to remove it because the phone rings off the hook! I pack up almost 30 dozen a week, I have friends, family, co workers and church members who buy the eggs on a regular basis. I sell the 12 ct for $4 and the 18 ct for $5. It just amazes me how some folks will want to buy 3 or 4 dozen and I try to explain to them its cheaper to buy 2 18 pks, they still insist on buy them by the dozen! Free range and/or organic eggs sell for a minimum of $7 in the stores in Maui. With gas prices so high, I do not do deliveries, but other egg sellers do. I also give sample eggs away to folks who come and buy the chickens that I hatch, and they are usually good for purchasing their eggs from me til their girls start laying. Also try any local farmers market, they are always looking for fresh eggs. On occassions, I have donated eggs to the local shelters and food banks, always appreciated. Good luck.

here people put signs at the end of the road and then sell them as people come knock on the door.

12 are 2.00 here I haven't seen signs for 18 yet

right now i just sell to my neighbors, but when my other hens start laying, and my friends hens start laying, we will [hopefully] have tons of eggs and are going into business together selling to the community.

Thanks everyone, that is very helpful. I am so excited to start selling -- and my chickens haven't even started laying eggs! BTW here's links to the woman who designed my awesome egg carton labels:

She did a great job, $15 for design and printable .pdf so that I can print out unlimited amounts of my own labels! So pretty, they'll make great gifts too.
Here's the proofl:
