New to the site and raising chickens! I am no stranger to rural life but have only ever had dogs and cats before. We just moved onto an acreage and have begun building our little barn yard with a couple of lambs, calves and now 17 baby chicks! I am looking forward to learning how to care for and enjoy my little flock! My biggest concerns right now are making my coop and run a fortress (fox, coyote, raccoon and hawks are the preditors we are noticing so far) and making sure I am using the best possible safe practices to raise these beautiful baby chickies!

Welcome! You've come to the right place for anything you want to know about chickens. The brown buttons on top of your screen will help you navigate. You can use the search button to find specific information on older messages, and the forums button will give you a list of all forums. Enjoy!

Welcome to the chicken club! There's lots of good info here on the site. You'll be a chicken pro in no time! :jumpy And remember, there is no such thing as too much hardware cloth! I even use a little razor wire to protect tractor coops and brooders in spots that look tempting for possible predators.
