Hello and welcome to BYC!!! Best wishes on your upcoming hatch! I know a few farms that use guinea fowl as a alarm bird/guard bird. It will be cool to see how they work out for y'all.

Yes we are wanting them for that and to eat all the ticks, bugs and scare off snakes Also we enjoy watching them. They are quite entertaining!

They are great to have for bugging and watch dogs . I love the pearl , but I don't have any . I tried to get some Vulturine for years but never could find any eggs for sale .

I am not sure what kind we will be getting. The neighbor's guineas laid these on our property and not sure which one it was!

Welcome! I have 5 guinea keets, 40 chickens, 2 geese, 10 cows, 2 dogs and a barn cat, and they are all so fun! You should definitely get chickens! They are the best! The Texas heat can be crazy sometimes, but my chickens have always been super heat hardy through it. Good luck with this new adventure and feel free to ask any questions.

Do you have an idea of what breed(s) and where from? I have lots of recommendations if you have no clue.
