Howdy from Texas!

:frow Welcome from New Orleans. So glad you joined. You have met lots of the best people on the site already, although there are lots more to meet. All knowledgeble, kind people, who will give good info and be happy to help in anyway they can.
Please keep us up on how your hatch goes and whatever else you decide to do. We are always interested. Yell for help during hatching if you have questions or need actual help. Good luck.

I would love your recommendations! We do plan to sell them eventually and I did a survey and brown eggs won hands down for most desired. I was thinking Marans and Rhode Island Reds.
I, personally, like Marans. I have a great farm down here that I have used for years, highly recommend, that I can give you information on if you would like. He ships too.
Also has a few different colors and is working on a new color of his own. All his Marans lay dark brown eggs.

I went with McMurray hatchery this year, first time hatchery order, and it was amazing! Healthy chicks and amazing customer service. If I buy more chicks eventually then I will definitely go through them. They shipped from there to Tx and were fine. It was 2 day shipping. I have to recommend Bielefelders, Welsummers, Plymouth Rocks and many more. I love my 5 week old Marans, but they are a bit skittish. If you get attached, you won’t want to sell. 😂 Chicken math is real, so you might end up getting more. McMurrays Whiting True Blues are really cool too! They lay blue eggs. Good luck again!

:frow Welcome, Texas, from Missouri! Hope your hatch goes well in spite of the power outage! I have Black Australorps that lay brown eggs and really like them. They are calm and sensible. I also have Easter Eggers for the green eggs and a few Brown Leghorns for white eggs (the White Leghorns tend not to last long around here). I sell mixed-color cartons and my customers seem very pleased with them. Good luck in all your endeavors!
