All nocturnal. Just because you didn't see them doesn't mean they aren't there. They are extremely well populated in suburban areas.

No doubt. Not saying it's outside the realm of possibility, but as an avid outdoorsman and hunter, and after growing up on my current piece of property, there has literally never been a hide or hair of any of the above predators.

You can try make a go of it as is, but if there actually is anything out there, finding out could be at the cost of a chicken or chickens.

Happen to have deer cams? You could monitor the area at night to see if anything comes lurking.

Hello, and welcome to BYC. You may want to put electrified netting or hot wire around your coop. Predators (dogs especially) can readily shred chicken wire.

I agree with @sourland. Or you can add 1/2 inch hardware cloth as a layer over the chicken wire - securely and then make an apron.
