(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've been raising chickens since 2005, recently gotten into turkeys, geese, and ducks.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Uuuhh...
12?
(3) What breeds do you have?
Ameraucanas, Wyandottes (various varieties), Brahmas, Marans, Pilgrim Geese, various heritage turkeys, & Call ducks.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Colorful eggs, fun feather patterns.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We also raise dairy cattle and dairy goats. I dabble in a little bit of all things homesteading.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My family and I have pretty much made animals our life. I have 4 kids in various 4-H projects, my husband is an AG teacher/FFA advisor as well as a soldier in the IN National Guard, and I'm a veterinary assistant working towards my vet tech degree.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC through some Pinterest posts I think.
It was several years ago, but I finally decided to join because I realized a lot of information that I was looking for lead me to here.
