Every chick has a story. We all would love to hear how your chicken got it's name. Share a story and a pic if you have one. It's all in good fun. The hen is this picture is Rosemary. She is a daddy's girl and is also my favorite herb to cook with so, my wife said it has to be her name.

Wow, I could go on forever! Great thread!

This is Nonae. We were getting a buddy for one of our chickens & had our eye on one hen. Instead, the guy was only able to catch her since she flew into the cage next door which was full of full grown massive roosters. All of the roosters were terrified at a 9 week old tiny pullet. Anyway, my mom wasn't sure if we would have to give her back (since she was a flighty escape artist) so we named her Nonae like no name without the space & the M.

The young pullet on the left is Nugget. She got her name because when she was a chick she pooped on my step daughters lap. She told her if she did that again she would be a chicken nugget and it just stuck..lol!! She was kidding of course.

Big Mama the Ameraucana was hatch in a test hatch and was three weeks old, while all the other chicks were a day old. They all crowded under her like she was their momma.

Um, you are aware that very few of us have "a chicken" (singular), right? :lau
I have ten, but I'm not going to give the story for all of them. Here are a few choice selections.

Braveheart: One of the first batch I bought in April last year at a feed store. While all the other chicks were running around when I put my hand down in the bin, she ran right up and jumped in it. Ever since then whenever anything new has been introduced she is usually the first to investigate.

ObLaDi and ObLaDa: Identical for the first 14 weeks of their life (and they usually hung out together as well) they finally started showing some differences but I still wanted to give them paired names as I had been calling both of them "The Twins" collectively for over three months. Well inspiration came to me when I was building their new coop and the Beatles song came on the radio ("In a couple of years, they had built their home sweet home").

Glinda: A Black Australorp. All my black chickens get named after devils, demons, witches and so on. Glinda is the Good Witch of The South from The Wizard of Oz.
