Hubble pigeons

So you breed your birds for meat and speed of reproduction? I've read that many utility breeds have become smaller and infertile over the years, making it harder to raise them for meat production, or just as pets. I also find and dislike that many meat breeds are very untidy (e.g. giant runts) in appearance, which I don't like. The color variety is also limited in Kings, basically all solid/selfs. Your birds come (from what I can see) in grizzled barred, baldhead (I think), and most are pied/have white markings. The tight feathering makes for an attractive appearance, and they aren't overly plump/rounded. Your birds are all beautiful and I hope they gain the popularity they obviously deserve. I'd be tempted to buy some from you if I didn't live so far away! I'm a believer in the breed without even seeing any.

Pigeons come in such amazing variety! Are you attracted to these utility pigeons @Fields Mountain Farm ? :)

What are the Hubble's personality like?

If they were kept as pets, would they loft fly?
Not exactly sure what you mean by loft fly but I find that they aren’t very aggressive and can be kept as a pet

Thank you I’m hoping to have some come spring that I can ship out but shipping is quite expensive

Loft flying is when you can release them to fly from the loft and they will return on their own or when called. Sometimes its on there own whether called or not. :p
Oh thank you ijust call that free ranging but I’m sure they could but I don’t recommend it because they aren’t very fast flyers and are easily targeted by hawks

I contacted a guy today to help me with my quest to make the Hubbles a recognized breed and he gave me great information and was very helpful. There are lots of steps and he said that it could take up to 10 years but it may take as little as 4-5. He also stated some of the steps as he didn’t quite remember all of them but he gave me the NPA representatives name for my district so that I could contact him to find out all the steps. Some of the steps are there has to be a certain number of people showing these birds at bird shows around the country, the birds have to breed true to the original characteristics, and a certain number of birds have to be interred into these shows. I also asked him for the weight of his squabs at 4 weeks and he said they should weigh around 1.25 lbs
