Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

I just order W H duckling, they are going to be shipped to me in April. They will put you telephone number on the box and the post office will let you know when you can pick them up. Good luck keep up posted on your chicks.

Good Evening Everybody~

DH slipped on ice the other day and landed on his back. He was sore but worked through it with Aleve and taking it semi-easy thinking it would loosen up. Welll.....overnight I thought I heard him groaning but the *thump when he hit the floor was what really woke me up. He said he rolled over and heard a crack and the pain was unbearable so we went to the ER at 3:00 AM.
That *crack was his rib breaking.

So this afternoon after a short nap, getting DS off to school and running to the pharmacy for DH's pain meds, I asked him what he wanted for dinner and he said......"Spare ribs."
Stupid & hysterical. We're delirious.
My bed is calling..

Sorry that your DH fractured a rib, that is soooo painful. It is amazing that he still has a sense of humor left. I hope they sent him home with a rib brace.

Thanks JerseyHen. The unfunnier (is that a word? lol) a situation is, the more we joke about it!
We asked about a brace and the ER doctor said they don't recommend them anymore. They restrict lung expansion which can cause pneumonia. They prescribed Tylenol w/codeine and rest. He's ok as long as he doesn't sneeze, laugh or move the wrong way.

Sounds like a good healthy relationship

. Makes sense about the lung expansion, but I would think a brace might be nice for when he attempts to get up and about, not to wear it all the time. Well, the ER docs should know best.

I thought a brace would help too. Getting up out of a chair is what hurts him the most. Once he's up and about he seems ok but one move the wrong way and he groans! He says he's going to work Monday. We shall see.

Any fun plans for the weekend?

My weekend will consist of finishing the painting in my bedroom and preparing to put in the wood floor. I need this bedroom remodel done so I can finish the master bathroom remodel (it has been gutted forever)... then on to the rest of the house as time permits until the weather is nice and I go outside and ignore the state of the inside

It was my mom's house and she never did any upkeep on it for 30 years (same carpets, same wall coverings etc). We have been living here for 3 years, but have been working on the stuff you don't really notice (plumbing, electrical, windows, heaters, doors, basement jacks and waterproofing, exterior paint, etc). Now that it is all functional we are finally working on the paint, floors, bathrooms, then the kitchen.

How about you?

Lszajko, sorry to hear about your husband! Hope he gets better quick! How is Mr Blue doing?
I just ordered some beautiful show quality Silver laced wyandotts from a fellow BYCer and she is going to throw in some Blue laced red eggs from foleys line as well! Im so excited!!

Whoa~ Sounds like you have a lot going on! All finished painting? Our house needed a lot of work when we bought it from my father-in-law in 2005. It seemed like we were under construction constantly. It's SO nice when it's all done though!

Did the usual weekend chores today...cleaned the house, went grocery shopping, etc. Just finished cleaning up dinner; finally sitting down with a glass of wine waiting to put my son to bed! Laundry tomorrow. I'm a regular party animal this weekend!

Thanks Lexi ! He's still sore but he's keeping busy between naps from the pain meds. He's a tough old man.

Mr. Blue has been on his best behavior. I noticed he's only aggressive when they're out wandering in the yard. He was very polite while I filled their water and food today. I opened the doors to both coops thinking they'd want to roam but they stayed put. I guess the snow turned them off. You know it has been a rough winter when 27 deg. feels like a Spring day!

Awesome on the SLWs! They're beautiful. I have one (Sylvia). She's a sweetheart and a great layer. Not sure I've ever seen a blue laced one though...will have to Google those!
