Quote:I think that's a kinda pessimistic view of this change. If ads are "the most apparent thing" out of a list of 30+ upgrades and features... then there isn't a lot I can say to change your perception.

Ads are an integral part of the free internet and the only way large sites can maintain themselves (unless you're wikipedia and get millions in donations... if you have millions in $$ to donate to BYC, please contact us and we'll gladly remove all ads.
).

These ads are what allowing us to keep the site going and to provide unlimited posting, private message, and image upload space to all our members.

All of our members can turn off the ads by upgrading their accounts for less than a night out to dinner.

I took a peek at the new byc and loved everything but the auction system..no more proxy. If we don't get it back we'll lose many members to other auction sites. That's my only complaint.

Perhaps that was an unfair statement on my part. I love BYC and though I don't post much I do read and learn a lot here. I do get annoyed with the internet the same as I do with the TV with all the adds/commercials being thrown at me all of the time. I do understand basic economics and that all things must be paid for!

I appologies for my ignorance/pessemism.
