Great job! I'm so glad your vet tech friend was there to help you. I have never gone through this, so you are helping us all learn. Hopefully she will start getting better with the antibiotics. She has to feel better with that out.

Pus in chickens is hard,it is not like an infection in other animals.

Not sure about the membrane, but chicken pus is hard.

The pus in chickens was a surprise to me, lol, 'cause I had only ever seen the liquid pus in people, cats, dogs and horses before. Does anyone know why this happens to poultry?

Always check the cleft/roof of the mouth to make sure there is no pus further into the sinuses. This hen has no pus.



I will try to find one of a chicken with pus there.

Yikes! I lavaged her eye and found some more but couldn't get it with my fingers so I will bring blunt end tweezers with me tomorrow and see if I can get it. So...how do I prevent this from getting so bad again? Just watch for little pieces and try to squeeze it out?
