HUGE FIRE, NO POWER, EGGS IN ‘BATOR! :( UPDATED--PEEPS!

pips&peeps :

I wonder if they have any battery back ups for 'bators?

I have a ups on mine, but hey, my husband sells them for a living.

They will only last for a couple hours though.

what's an ups? how much are they? How many hours do they last?

Solar would be nice, but it's just so stinkin' expensive to get set up.

We just invested in a solar fence charger because we've lost power for days at a time during the winter and it's never good to not have the fence on for the horses. I've looked into solar water heaters too because it's not at all fun to go through waist-deep snow in -20 to break ice on the trough, several times per day!

Glad to hear they are singing to Alan Jackson:hugs I hope this is a sign for the rest of the hatch.

We are going to candle ours to see how close they are to pipping. 2 more are starting to discolor so I wonder about them. I felt if we had 5 out of the 8 hatch we would be doing well. As Butter had laid the eight before died. We don't know what happened she was fine that afternoon. Then in the evening she just kept her neck to the side and he head tucked with her feet sprawled behind her then 2 hours later she was gone. So we are hoping to hatch a few baby Butters.

As far as solar being too expensive check out some MotherEarth articles or go to homepower.com , otherpower.com also check out some buys on ebay. DH has set our barn up totally on solar:cool:
Hope the hatching continues well

I have a power inverter that I can plug into my cars cig lighter and it converts 12 volt DC to 120 volt AC.

If the power goes out I move my bator to my car and plug it in until the power comes back on.
If it is an extended period of time just crank the car and let it charge the battery for a few minutes once in a while.

You can pick one up at walmart and most all auto parts stores.

LOL I know! It's just what was on the radio when I heard them peeping away! Then when I went to go home last night, the egg was rocking & rolling and I saw a beak tip. This morning, there is one (extremely cute) baby Houdan! He's lonely, though.

I'm hoping I get one or two more. He is very fluffy and completely dry, he even pooped once. So I'm thinking he hatched last night, some time....
