Just curious, what would be best to use instead of vaseline? If it is just a tissue prolapse it should be easy to push back in. If it is a shell-less egg, that will make it harder to treat. Vaseline is not ideal, but if that's all you have, use it.

I use something like this:Just curious, what would be best to use instead of vaseline?
Interesting! I'm currently building a little medical kit for my ducks, in the case of deficiencies, injuries, etc. I figured I should have something on hand like this too!I use something like this:

AND THEN
did you try putting honey on it and pushing it back in? I did this with my duck and it helps lower inflammation and it stayed it after that and wouldn’t before that.OK - this is what I did: I put her in a basin of warm water. She was calm and then would freak out and then was calm again, and so on. I couldn't really clean her dirty bum feathers because she was struggling and I needed both hands. But while she was struggling, she pooped (looked healthy). I blew her dry (she liked that) and I sprayed the Vetericyn on the area. Then, with a glove, I tried to push it in. I couldn't tell if it was in. But then some of it popped out again. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. Any thoughts about what I should do next? Here are pics from when I thought I pushed it in, to after.

I'm going to do this right now. I've just been reading other posts and I only tried pushing it in once, but it sounds like popping back out after it was pushed in is very common and that it really takes patience and many attempts. I'm going to try the honey. Fingers crossed!did you try putting honey on it and pushing it back in? Today it looked like she pooped some tiny little brown pellets, so that doesn't seem very normal. Should I be concerned about the urates? It just seems to be dripping out of her non-stop. I'm going to give her a bath soon just to clean her off.The white liquid is urates, the kidney waste. Is she also pooping normal droppings? I would soak her in warm soapy water at least once a day to keep her clean. Use the honey or a sugar paste with water, and that can help reduce swelling. Keep the vent lubricated as long as the prolapse is out. It can take days for a prolapse to stay in, but just keep trying to push it back in a few times a day.
