It is probably due to the prolapse being swollen. I would tey to push it back inside and hold it there for a few minutes while you hold her in a towel after the bath.

Sorry - missed the bottom part of this. What should I use to keep the vent lubricated? Do I push whatever cream inside, or only apply it externally? I have been keeping her in the dark for longer hours to prevent her from laying. Thanks for all of this! The white liquid is urates, the kidney waste. Is she also pooping normal droppings? I would soak her in warm soapy water at least once a day to keep her clean. Use the honey or a sugar paste with water, and that can help reduce swelling. Keep the vent lubricated as long as the prolapse is out. It can take days for a prolapse to stay in, but just keep trying to push it back in a few times a day. It may come out whenever she strains, poops, or lays an egg. You can temporarily stop her from laying by keeping her in the dark for 16 hours a day. Here is a good article to read:

OK - I think I got this. Going to set up her bath now and clean her off. Then I'll put honey on the prolapse and push it back in. If it pops out I just keep it lubricated and try to put it in again later. Thank you for all of this! I'm feeling more confident than when I started out. I'm really so grateful for this forum!!!Apply the honey or cream to the exposed prolapse. Lubricant, vaseline, or a nontoxic cream or oil is fine, just don’t let it dry out while it stays out. Mucus membranes will dry out and turn black, so you want to prevent that.
