Connor sucked in a breath, but had to dodge to avoid being whacked in the face with a passing tree's arm. "I've never been loved since. Guess fate knows what it's doing, though. I mean, if I'd been in a relationship for the remainder of my elementary years, I wouldn't have been able to focus on my work as well and achieve high honor roll and therefore get more hats."

Lisa noticed two girls enter the dance. One was a girl in a dark hoodie who seemed, shy, maybe? and possibly a little prickly, the other was a tall girl who wore a disgusted look on her face. Seeing as the hoodie girl was engaged in conversation with Brooke, Lisa decided to (cautiously) approach the other. "Hi, I'm Lisa." She introduced herself. "Did you just move here?"

River scowled after Brooke, fidgeting her hands in her hoodie's pocket annoyedly. Oh yes, just come bumbling in here, knock me down, then I try to start to offer you water, and you walk away. Jerk. As she felt that eerie sense of someone watching her, she whirled around to see a kind looking girl turning away to talk to another girl.
Pleased that she had not spoken to her, she retreated into the shadows to eavesdrop on them.
