So you want to get rid of the predators preying on your flock, but you want to do it "humanely"?

What difference does it make? As Stephanie says in the video, "Dead is dead." Is a quick death better than a slow death? How do you feel about euthanasia? That's illegal in most states as is physician aided suicide. (The states of Oregon, Montana and Washington are the exception.) From this we must infer that a slow agonizing death is preferable for humans, but not for other animals. Now do you understand why I'm confused?

Live traps you say? What do you do with the predators that you trap? You either have to "disassemble" them yourself or take them somewhere and set them free. If you set them free to prey on someone else's flock your just leaving your dirty work for someone else to do. One of the responsibilities we assume when we decide to keep poultry is to protect them from predators. Look at it this way; If it was a member of your family that was being threatened by a predator would you worry about stopping that predator "humanely"? I doubt it.

Personally, I believe any life should be taken humanely! Human, animal, no matter what! And yes, to answer your question, I am all for physician assisted suicide! Forcing humans to suffer against their will is wrong. Causing ANY living creature to suffer is wrong!

I have a cousin who still lives in the sticks as quick as city folks "dump " preds at his place he has to dispatch them they do not realize when they relocate they have trained the animal to not go into a cage trap and they cannot be caught in the cages anymore he uses foot hold traps and body grip traps at this point.........

2x This should be a interesting thread.

To me there is nothing more humane than 1 shot one kill. As far as stray dogs they get shot at and leave warned first if they come back after 3 times it's a dead dog. Now if the dog comes on the property for the first time to do damage to any of my animals it's a dead dog. I have 3 donkeys that keep them in check though so this is rare at my place now coyotes is a different story they get shot and killed period my husband hunts them to keep the numbers in check. They are running rampant around my place my husband has killed 70 of them this year so far and they are still thick

Coons get dead if they are treed by the dogs case in point non of my critters have gone missing or died due to diligent predator control. To me the one shot one kill works great trapping IMO is more risky as you can can be bitten or attacked my freaked out stressed out critter.

I love when humans argue about things that make little sense. they contradict their values on every level and dont know when to butt out of others problems. if someone is having a problem with pests stealing their food, it is of no concern to me how they dispose of the problem. I was not put on this planet to argue or police the habits of others. I am anti-abortion, I dont chase 16 year old pregnant women around telling them how to treat life. Suffering is part of life. Ask anyone who has to live under any government authority. Bottom line is that no matter how bad busy bodies want to legislate their morality, it will never work. You can plug the titanic, bit it will still sink. Same argument with drugs, abortion, grass too high, speeding......

Not sure that what you said applies to the rest of the thread as they aren't arguing and don't seem to be trying to foist it on others, but I do very much agree with your philosophy here.

I don't use lethal traps because I don't want to kill a pet,and I want to decide what to do with an animal that goes into my live trap.To me it is not confusing at all.

As far as humans go it is a shame we force people to suffer a slow death. We put pets down when they suffer,so surely we can find a way for people to make it known what THEY want when in certain situations.I think the key is getting people to express their wishes BEFORE they no longer can.
