humidity for call duck eggs?

Oh no, you're fine. I can imagine, I kept getting different answers on some things too. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling and if its the wrong thing, learn from it.

Those incubators are pretty expensive so Id think they work pretty well? Id hope so at least! I used a Little Giant still air with no turner. This is what I did....

-Turned the eggs 2-3 times a day. I used an egg carton so pointy end facing down. My eggs came early so I actually turned them until the day they pipped! They still hatched just fine.
-After day 6 I misted them when I turned them.
-I candled them a lot while turning them. I just shined the light on top of the egg, didnt take them all out. When I did candle them all I brought them in the bathroom, turned the shower on, and waited until it was hot and humid.
-Temperature 99-101 degrees during incubation period, 98 degrees during hatching period.
-Humidity anywhere from 75-85% during incubation period, 90-93% during hatching period. My humidity was so high that although I opened the bator several times during hatching none stuck.

If you just keep that humidity up a little I'm sure you will have a great hatch!! I was initially going to hatch Call ducks until I found out how difficult they were to hatch! This being my first hatch I figured 1 or 2 would live, I didnt expect 8! Now I dont know what Im going to do with them all!!

Keep us updated!

The recommended humidity for ducks is 70-80% during incubation, then in the 90% range for hatching. I kept my humidity 65-80% the entire incubation time, and 90-95% during hatching. This is my very first hatch, and I had 8 out of 9. The one that died even pipped, but then died after. The problem sounds like you have very low humidity for ducks. Ducklings require more humidity to incubate, and hatch than chicks do. Good luck with your hatch!! Calls are difficult to hatch! Keep us updated!
I am super confused no offense but I followed this advice and everyone of my call duck eggs drowned besides one if you live i fl or another place the same please just pay attention to air cell size because all advise is not correct for different people not this person’s fault but I should have had mine around 40 at the most and 60 to 70 for hatch and thos baby’s would have made it maybe it’s just call ducks but a Pekin also didn’t make it either so just fyi

I’m sorry you lost yours
I run 40-45 % during incubation but also weigh my eggs at the start and once a week that way if I need to adjust weigh loss I can
I also mark my air cells and can adjust humidity to fix it around the half way mark if air cells are to small or to big
Higher humidity will give less weight loss giving a smaller air cell ( drowning can happen ) to low of humidity can cause to large of air cell taking growing room from baby and early hatches
Then lockdown I run around 70 for hatching
For call ducks I would ask @WVduckchick
She hatches lots of call ducks

Thank you I wanna upload some pictures they’re on day 20 I believe they’re our souls did reattached and they don’t look too bad except for one out of three so I’m gonna keep an ion them I’ve been spraying them and I got the humidity to around 40 so hopefully I can at least get one baby for this other little dog

hello there,
ive currently 20 call duck eggs in a R-COM 20 incubator due to hatch this sunday ill stop turning on thursday.
the humidity at the moment is 45% (its accurate ive tested it) my question is when should i turn the humidity up to 65% on thursday when they stop turning or do i wait until they pip??
its my first time using this incubator i was using a small R-COM mini and the results were drastic over three months i had 6 ducklings dead in the shell on hatch day and only managed to get one out alive even then i had to help!
the last time it happened i tested the humidity and it was only 30% the small incubator is obviously c**p for incubating duck eggs and is now back in its box and in the cupboard.

thanks for any help
Andrew
Once they start hatching they will spike the humidity up anyways
