Hunched up duck.

How's your duck doing today? would love an update.
I saw him hunch up once today. Hes still eating some and swimming which is good. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not hes doing better, but at least hes putting up a fight every time I catch him and check him over.
He mostly appears to be sleeping and laying down through out the day which I believe is good, he is resting. I just wish he would eat more :(
I really hope he didnt eat something like plastic and have it stuck somewhere...

Hmmm, he appears healthy in the photos, perhaps it's an emotional or nutritional issue. His tail's not tucked in, so that's good. Usually, when I see ducks hunched over, their tail is tucked in which usually means they don't feel well.

I know with all the rain we have been having I have found some strange things washed up in our fenced in area that I am so thankful no one has gotten hold of.
Wondering if the heat maybe bothering him worse than the others too, and speaking of the others how do they treat him?

Other than being thinner but even that didn't look too bad does he seem interested in life in general or does he hang off by himself?

usually when animals feel bad they will hang off by themselves and generally look depressed, I didn't see this in your duck but then again we're not around him all the time either just a pic.

The others treat him with respect, his girl follows him around all day and the other boys appear to be very respectful of him. They run when he decides there to much, and they never do much of anything except flock around the yard and forage.
He appears very interested in life, he runs from me, struggles when I catch him and all the other ducks refuse to leave until I put him down, then they all run.
He keeps up with them, and appears to be keeping the role of alpha duck.
He is not doing anything except slowing down on eating, loosing a tiny bit of weight, and hunching up every now and then, even his poop appears normal.

This was him this morning, waddling around and digging though the grass.

And tugging on the chain to try and get back into the main yard.
I really think he was drinking the dew off the mettle since this was early in the morning and I hadn't gone out to refill the pool yet.
He hates when its dirty.

This is what has the vet baffled and myself. He appears just fine except for the slight everything, even when he hunches up he only does it when he stands still for long periods.
he has a very lively personality, and he still fights me when I grab him, so I have absolutely no idea why he is doing what he is doing.
I also have not witnessed him hunching up today.
Should I wait a few days and then just let him waddle around the yard again?

Ok that makes me feel a lot better.
I still don't understand why hes all hunched up every now and then. He fluffs up, hunches down and the flicks his head a little bit. Then when he straightens up he shakes it all off and flaps his wings.
I just hate to see him look so distressed :(

Keep giving him the Nutri drench in his water for the rest of the weekend the others will benefit from it too. then re evaluate on Monday hopefully what ever is going on will have passed. Sounds like his life and his place in the flock is really good. Maybe the heat just got to him worse than the others lets hope that's all it is. After this weekend may ND 1X a week and ACV 3X a week for a nutritional boost.

I just realized you said something about him flicking his head and then standing straight up. Males do a kind of courtship thing where they first twitch or shake their head while hunched up (and sometimes wiggle their tail) then, they stretch out and run around with their necks out and do a little whistle. I'm wondering if he's only doing the head twitch and stretch, but not the rest because he's got no competition. I would still give him the nutrients and other things just in case it really is something medical.

OMG that is exactly what he does!
He hunches up, flicks his tail, shakes his head a little bit before he straightens up and fluffs his neck feathers, repeats the act one of two times before he starts flapping his wings and straightens up all together and quacks.
Is he just doing a matting dance???
