Hunting Laws In The USA

Yes, if I was to hunt, I would be hunting with the intention of taking my kill home and eating it.

I assumed that this is also the norm as otherwise people would be leaving dead animals on the ground which would surely spread disease.

In Wisconsin you must take out what you kill.
Regs are defined by the State, Dept. of Natural Rescouces.

Bow hunting for Deer starts tomorrow.
You can hunt small game here on your own land with out regard to season and with out a permit. This is rabbits, squirrell and the like. Any game bird, deer, bear, you must follow the regs your land or not.

Lots of public land here to hunt.

From the DNR site -"Access on acquisitions by the Department of Natural Resources

The bulk of this protection has been accomplished by the Department of Natural Resources. In total the DNR has acquired 425,752 acres of the 477,295 acres protected by the Stewardship Fund, or around 90%.

Of these 425,752 acres, the DNR has reported that 95% of the land is open to hunting and 97% is open for fishing access. "

I am a hunter.
Any one who shoots animals with no intention of eatings his kill is not a hunter.
I would tell you what the definition of this type of individual is, but it's a fmily site.

This year, the deer max. has been increased in Ohio (too many of them around). If you take advantage of bow, muzzle-loader, and ordinary season, you could put 7 deer in your freezer!!!

We're still working on the 1 we got last year. Haven't bought beef for 9 months now! If you're on your own property, here, you don't need to worry about paperwork.

I'm a legal resident of Wisconsin but am active duty military in Texas. Wisconsin gives me a free fishing permit each year, I think a small game license is available for free too. Texas gives me a free "super combo permit" good for almost everything. In most states I can fish for free as long as I am on leave and present my leave papers.

in texas, if you're a vice president, you can shoot a human accidentally and when they find out that you don't have a permit to hunt, get away without a fine....

That's not quite right, he did have a hunting license, but didn't have the required game bird stamp and was issued a warning for not having the stamp. The warning was at the discretion of the Parks and Wildlife officer.

In Indiana, you can hunt deer with your vehicle year round.

Deer hunting season with a shotgun is about 2 weeks. Turkey season is coming up soon and no one better shoot my turkeys!

As for where to hunt, you need permission from the property owner to hunt on the property and if your kill goes on the property after you shoot it, you need to seek permission of the property owner to follow it and bag it.

That is the same here in the UK as well but unfortunately land is so expensive here, but I guess that's because there is much less of it...

Yeah, and they're not making land anymore.

Well, maybe they are in Hawaii.
