hunting

Congrats to all the lucky & skilled hunters.

I didn't get to go this year due to a AC separation in my right shoulder. Recovering from surgery now. I did pack my .44 mag around on my left hip on the property, but no deer came around. My adult son, who lives next door did get one on public land, but I knew I wouldn't be able to drag one out if I did manage to shoot it, so stayed close to home. At home I have a 4x4 tractor to do my small jobs.

Man, I think I might have to try this deer hunt thing. Pictures are awesome!

Forked it over this year and got the fish and hunting license so I can try out both! I'm so excited. Of course though, I'm just doing puny rabbits because else it's more $$ for tags.

I've hunted & fished all my life. I was a hunting guide in Alaska when I was in my late 20's. Now I bowhunt with my Hoyt 31" Maxxis...

I have worked in the woods (Logging) for tha past 25 years. Mostly on the rigging crew, like you see on the show "Ax Men" but lately I have been a timber faller. This means that sometimes I cut down trees...

And sometimes I just stand there with a stupid look on my face and bleed...

You cut down trees? I'm a tree "hugger." I climb up in my tree stand and hug that tree as often as I can.... I love trees and all the little varmints that live in and under them. When I met my husband he was afraid to tell me he loved to deer hunt. He thought being a "tree hugger" meant I was also an animal rights activist or something. Little did he know!

We have an outdoor woodstove. That thing is GREAT. I'm the only girl I know with my own chainsaw, but I'll be darn if MINE isn't the one my husband always grabs when he wants to cut some wood, too. Generally the ones we cut are no where near the the size of the ones you are dealing with!

Yep. I love trees and the woods. They're good for a lot of things. There's more than one reason my handle is "Ivywoods."

I love it here. I grew up about 25 miles north of Minneapolis. My parents have had a cabin just north of Grantsburg since before I was born. I have been coming up here my whole life to hunt and for weekends. My husband and I got married a few years ago after being together for 7 years. He started coming up with me about 5 or 6 years ago to bowhunt. He loves the area as well. Since we are insurance adjusters, we travel for work alot. We never have a "normal" commute, so we figured we could live where ever we wanted. We ended up buying this place this past June. We are now on 40 acres. Mostly wooded. Have deer coming into the yard all the time to help the chickens eat their feed etc.

A friend of ours lives just north of Danbury, in Dairyland. We go up and see him quite a bit too. As well as do a bit of hunting up there.

We are about 8 miles south of Grantsburg and a few miles north of the Polk county line.

We wouldnt change a thing. We are both so happy here. Our only regret is we didnt get out of the cities sooner.

Anybody trapping little furry critters this winter?
Anyone getting ready for spring turkey?
How about prairie doggin?

My next hunting will be turkey then prairie dogs, unless some varmints slip in before that.
