Had a great season last year.

In the freezer I still have
Venison
elk- we ended up being lucky and got 3 nice bulls

Black Bear
Moose- Brother drew a tag, we have really good luck with the drawing. 3 years in a row with a family member/ close friend getting a tag.

When we had the Wolf season in Idaho we ended up getting 5! Really made me feel better after getting a dog drug off the front porch by a wolf, poor guy was torn to shreds.

Thank you Ivy. The wood as actually high gloss. Can't see it in the photo. I finally talked my friend into selling it to me. He bought it new in 1970 fired five rounds threw it and it has been sitting in his gunsafe ever since. The guns were made from 1968-1971 by H&R (who went bankrupt in 1986). They never produced any amo for them. Thus a wildcat. I have to neck down .223 brass and handload .17 cal. rounds. It sends a 25gr bullet downrange at a blistering 4275fps lol. So distance is only limited to the shooters ability. My neighbor has a produce farm and problems groundhogs. So we will see what kind of distance I can shoot lol.

Kids and hunting are always a good thing teach97.

Neat to see hunters here! My dad hunts and has for years, and I'm getting into it this year I think. I'll probably be deer hunting primarily, and with a gun at first, but I'd like to learn archery and go after all sorts of things. I'm especially excited about turkey and pheasant and duck and goose hunting, but at some point would LOVE to go after caribou, elk, or moose.

In the mean time, I live vicariously. Dad got a few deer this year, and I helped him skin one of them--I've got 2 deer pelts and a rabbit pelt in the freezer, and one deer hide in the tanning solution as of this afternoon!! Trying my hand at tanning some leather.

Should be taking it out of the solution to flesh it in about two days. I might not have pictures then, but when I have them finished (about 9-10 days from now) I'll definitely take pictures to show you, if you're interested. This is my first time tanning. Have any of you tanned? (Hides other than your own, that is!)

Don't know how I missed this subject, although I may have posted on an older hunting thread. Didn't get a deer this season but had a great waterfowl season. My passion is duck hunting.

Lovely place it looks like you have to waterfowl hunt. Always wanted to go but could never find a person that knew what they were doing. The creek that is on the land we hunt is full of woodducks. Beautifull birds would love to have one on the wall and in the oven!
