hunting

LOL..could be!

I moved here in 2003...saw a spike and 4 Does the first hunting season. Started working the land and woods (only 15 acres, but so far im the only one hunting the area of 150 acres or so). I am the middle property in a "sort" of neighborhood. Im in WV so the typical thought of suburbia doesnt exist where I am at. Within a few years, we started seeing nice racks and huge weight gains (supplemental feedings/minerals) food plots etc. The neighbors took notice and ive even been able to "plot" some on their properties because they like seeing the deer.

Out the kitchen window in 2006 I believe, just 3 years after starting

A few that made the grade. Far cry from the spikes everyone was used to seeing around here. Not huge by some standards, but for my backyard in the middle of nowhere wv ...i'll take'em.

2010 buck. My son called not more then 2 minutes ago to tell me on his way out the driveway he saw the 5 bucks and the 2 are bigger then anything he has seen killed here. I will have to dust off the cameras for sure now LOL!

Killing one brought in with one of my calls still makes me happy;)

Yes I sure did:D I cant sit still...and I needed something to do during the fall and winter to keep me busy, so I took up turning calls. I have sold just about everyone ive ever made, not making a profit really but it pays or itself and gives me some satisfaction knowing im helping someone else enjoy the outdoors.

A few Squirell calls. These can mimick the barking and I use them as confidence calls on fox as well

I have a ball making them if ya cant tell!

Wonder if the furs will be ok on squirrels now because I've taken up taxidermy on squirrels so far LOL. I'd really like to do a doe or a small buck IF I can ever get one.

Two Creeks- WOW! Those are beautiful! I've always liked working with wood, but I've never done anything like that. I actually have a really nice Jett lathe that I've hardly used. I made some rolling pins for everyone in my family, and a few little odds and ends. I think it would be really neat to have some one of a kind calls like that! I'm usually the one that does the turkey calling for eveyone in my family. Nobody else seems to be able to get the knack of the mouth calls, and I use several different calls for hunting turkey. The slate I use the most and I have the best luck with is a old one with a plastic back that is broken. Still works though.

Attack Chicken-I don't know about the squirrel pelts. Seems like they would be better after it turns colder. One thing about squirrels, if one doesn't turn out like you want you can always get another squirrel!

Yeah thats for sure! I try not to waste anything I can use which includes the pelts. I usually only get maybe 1 or 2 a year Pretty sad isn't it? LOL The most hunting we do is rabbit/pheasant and then the like 3 weeks or so of deer hunting without getting anything

lol

Here's my first squirrel that I've ever mount. Hopefully will have another 1 or 2 this year.
