hunting

NJ's Bear hunt for 2011 produced 2 monsters. This photo is of a 776lb boar taken on opening day. Well by the end of the week it was topped with a 849 pounder. This is the second year we have had a Bear season since it was closed in the 70's.

Hey, Sis-I'd LOVE to go bear hunting. Mike had bears on his place up north and was out in the pasture sometimes when they were there, but just never cared to hunt them. I think it would be a real adrenalin rush for me, for sure.

Wow that is a big bear!!!!!!!!!Stevo

I got a 8pt buck yesterday. One more day of hunting season. Its the last day here in south carolina, Jan. 1st. for big game.

Good Deer season here in Illinois. Everything seemed to kick into high gear later than usual and was finding quite a few fresh rubs in mid-late december. Shot a 140 buck second firearm season with a muzzleloader. now i'm lookin forward to spring turkey!

Anybody getting ready for turkey season ? So far the hunters at Ft. Jackson have got over 45 coyotes probably more than that since some do not get logged in.

I know this is small potatoes to you seasoned hunters, but I just got my Hunter's Safety Certificate this past weekend! At the ripe old age to 22! Let's just say I felt kinda old in that class (all kids ranging from 9-15, plus me, hah, but there were parents with the kids, just not taking the class), but it was still very informative and useful. The gentleman who taught it is also a radio host for a local radio program, Trails and Tales! He is such a wonderful person, very passionate about wildlife and conservation (and also hunting, haha!). The class was free, but I am going to donate to the group that sponsored the class, U.P Whitetails.

The instructor also gave me information on how I can get in on helping with the spring duck banding roundup! I am totally going to volunteer, since it helps with local duck management and identification, and should be a blast as well! It is done when the ducks are molting, and they are rounded up from the lakes and marshes on kayaks, herded onto land into pens, and then the fun begins!
