Video taken yesterday:
I don't understand what I'm seeing. Just how big an area is that? Are all of those places adjoining, or are they pockets in different places? Where will all of that water go? Will it go? Whatever happens to it, the people whose houses are completely underwater won't be going back any time soon (if at all). :( I can't even begin to imagine how awful it must be. :(

That video is a few different neighborhoods (Thousands of homes)that are still under water.
I have no idea where exactly most of that water is going to go but some of it is flowing towards a major bayou that will eventually end up in the gulf.
It will be WEEKS if not months before those people can get back to their homes.
My mom is one of those people...it's a big mess.
No one really knows what is going to happen..this has never happened before so it is a wait and see game.

Yes, on turkey thread. We had been emailing each other every few days. (His dad passed away a few weeks ago and then he went back to work.)

He had sent me two emails back to back on the 30th, the last one at 12:28pm my time - Then he stopped. He was out of power prior to that.

As far as I know, he has lost most if not all of his birds. On the 30th, he said at least 75%. That was before his house started to flood and he already had several feet of water in his driveway.

I just hope he's safe, wherever he is right now. I know there were mandatory evacuations ordered on Thursday before the Neches River crested. There are homes filled with water and many that only the tops are showing.
:(
O NO! Please let us know if he checks in again.
:fl

I'm so sorry about your mom, but at least she's ok. It will take a long time to restore the lost properties - such a demand on services means a lot of waiting for a lot of people. :(

It would be like if everything in a 100 mile radius of Sydney was underwater

Hello! I'm finally back on. I was volunteering for the last couple of days, too tired to get on here. I even volunteered for the BATS, I went to a friends warehouse to build a bat house. (for those of you who don't know there is one bridge famous in Houston for having hundreds, thousands of bats. It is quite a sight to watch them come out. Anyways their bridge got flooded, and many sadly drowned. The ones who survived are lost and confused.) Today I helped a friend either pack things into boxes to be moved into storage, or put ruined stuff out on the streets. SO much ruined. The devastation even 6 inches of water can cause, let alone a foot, or 4, or 10. It's terrible.

Jr is far from Houston...closer to the LA boarder. I'm not sure how much water he got??
Maps say 123 miles east of Houston and just northeast of Beaumont. This is the most current info I found on the flooding.

It's unfathomable for anyone who hasn't experienced it.
When I lived in Louisiana, we had 17" of rain in 12 hours. Apparently the guy who built my house had been flooded before... It was pier and beam constructed 4' above the ground and my lot was the highest in the city. Flood waters stopped about 4" below my door, but all my neighbors were flooded. We put together a neighborhood work crew and went house to house cleaning up. The damage was just amazing... We were fortunate in that we were able to get the water out and dry out the framing, so mostly carpets, furniture, and drywall (some insulation) were all that was damaged. Most appliances survived. Once the water receded from the street several construction dumpsters appeared with a note on them to call this number when full. The same day, a guy showed up to drop off fans for drying out the studs, two per house that were flooded. Still have no idea where he came from??? Dropped them off and came back a week later to pick them up... After the guy picked up the fans, a trailer showed up with drywall, screws, tape and mud with a note, call this number if you need a resupply. After that, it was up to each house to file a flood claim and deal with the other losses. We all pitched in and bought several rolls of insulation to replace that which got wet... Truthfully, that was the most perplexing thing I'd ever witnessed... But it worked!
