I found a pet friendly hotel and booked a room before Katrina, only to arrive in Memphis TN to find a hand written note on the front door of the hotel that said, "no pets allowed, anyone with a pet in their room will be charged $300 per day." We brought our cats in anyway, in carriers with a beach towel over them. We were not caught or charged, we did buy a broom and dust pan, keeping the bathroom with the cats in them spotless. Yes we used the "do not disturb" sign and yes someone meowed from under the beach towel as we were getting on the elevator. LOL Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
I think the hotel would have been hardpressed to charge extra if you had rented with them knowing in advance. But it's like the Harvey landlords now trying to demand rent on places that were damaged or destroyed.

I'm an RN at a Rehab center and I just asked our 3-11 Supervisor, who is from PR, if her family is safe (her two siblings and 94 y.o. mother are there). She was a bit irritated that the brother responded he didn't know what all the fuss was about...."it's just a little wind". She'll be retrieving the mother after this and bringing her here to the States.
