I agree I learned of the heritage of the Cajun while hubby & I were helping in LA after Hurricane Katrina hit.

that was all new to me but found it informative and well done... I am 57 but still think our best days are the ones we our minds are open to learning

Today, the 29th was the 12th anniversary of Katrina, we seem to be getting a reprieve here in NOLA. Just finished catching up. Glad to hear most all is well, considering. Kiki, the cajun navy would bring you TP, I know they feel your pain. Heard today they are living off power drinks (red bull) and strawberry poptarts, so they probably don't need TP anyway. Southwestern Louisiana is getting hit pretty bad now. Our Gov. asked some of the cajun navy to stay here to help with that. Also Gov. is sending fuel to cajun navy in Texas so they can continue their work. Catholic schools are collecting needed things and sending them to y'all. We are all still praying for everyone. Archbishop called on all of us to pray for everyone and provide help in anyway we can. Remember, you are cared for, keep the faith. It's hard, but you will make it. Stay safe. Ment for everyone in Harvey's path.

All up here in Boston are donating all sorts of stuff.
Funny that the linnk they provided as to where to donate says to stop as they have no way to get it to you all :hmm They say Money is better.
But didn't we have a huge issue with this during Ktrina? Money NOT getting to where is was suppose to go? I want STUFF to go so I know they have clothes, food, bedding etc. not line the pockets of the charities like has happened in the past.
F- that, I know tons of people that would drive it all down !

"Donating food, clothing and household items can complicate and even hinder relief efforts, experts say. After Superstorm Sandy in 2012, for example, reports cited relief agencies not knowing what to do with the piles of clothing and other unsolicited items pouring in.

The U.S. Center for Disaster Information says such donations “require transportation — which is expensive and logistically complicated — and a pre-identified recipient on the ground who will receive the shipment, pay customs and other fees, sort and distribute the items.”

Unsolicited goods, the agency says , are “never required in early stages of response, and they compete with priority relief items for transportation and storage.”

It doesn’t mean there will never be a time or place for such donations — check with relief agencies as time passes."
