I was born way north of I-10. Way up yonder (wish I could type the Mamou accent!!) around Shreveport.

One of my relatives lived near Bossier City. I remember the distinctive smell of the clay soil mixed with oil well odors while driving through the country to get there. It wasn't a bad smell, but it smelled just like a certain kind of fart. Kind of makes sense because the wells were flaring off natural gas, which has a lot of methane in it (just like poots do).

I'm getting good phone signal here at the store. I'm excited to be able to be on BYC....the line is starting to move. It must have opened. I hope I am able to find something to buy!
Hey!
Glad you're able to get out, finally. You're definitely luckier than a lot. Heard on the news this morning that the death toll is 20+ so far.
I hope you wore a suit of armor to that store, & they still have what you need.
Continued good luck & prayers :hugs:fl

Houston we have a problem is right! Lol. The hens name is Miss. Harvey! The water went down on my streets over night. I'm at the grocery store waiting in line now for just over an hour. It's not even open yet. There is still high water rescues going on. The people in line around me: some have houses that flooded...some did not. A lot even list at least on vehicle. No one is at work and everyone is talking about wanting to get back to work. No one has flood insurance. This is just my neighborhood peeps. We all are just fearfully to be alive and not crammed into a shelter right now. I still don't have I turned or TV but I'm over that already. I could be in a lot worse shape. They better have TP left when I finally get into this store. I got DH to paint the bottom half of my dinner room yesterday. Woot woot. I wonder if we can make it to home depot to get some paint for the top half...if they will be open yet. What I'm really hoping is that he is able to go back to work tonight. They had his plant shut down yesterday.
:hugs :love

An armed society is a polite society. People in these parts are mostly polite.

In general, there is a low tolerance for stupidity here. There are places where it's tolerated, Kiki's area isn't one of those. I'll guess that we won't have riots either.

Why must the news focus on the 1% that aren't socially acceptable? And why is it tolerated?

Clothing, blankets, etc. pose storage & distribution problems to be of any use to those not in shelters
Sending money to agencies opens the door for scumbags to line their own pockets.
Why not send money to churches in the Houston area?
Yep I am donating to my church . They are always there to help and will make best use of the money.

I have no idea but I can say I am mighty tired of it.

The media like to make news more than they like to report it. I think it's kind of like horror movies with the terrorizing of helpless victims for 2 hours. Give one of those victims an assault rifle and the movie would be over pretty quickly and not be a big money maker.
