All up here in Boston are donating all sorts of stuff.
Funny that the linnk they provided as to where to donate says to stop as they have no way to get it to you all :hmm They say Money is better.
But didn't we have a huge issue with this during Ktrina? Money NOT getting to where is was suppose to go? I want STUFF to go so I know they have clothes, food, bedding etc. not line the pockets of the charities like has happened in the past.
F- that, I know tons of people that would drive it all down !

"Donating food, clothing and household items can complicate and even hinder relief efforts, experts say. After Superstorm Sandy in 2012, for example, reports cited relief agencies not knowing what to do with the piles of clothing and other unsolicited items pouring in.

The U.S. Center for Disaster Information says such donations “require transportation — which is expensive and logistically complicated — and a pre-identified recipient on the ground who will receive the shipment, pay customs and other fees, sort and distribute the items.”

Unsolicited goods, the agency says , are “never required in early stages of response, and they compete with priority relief items for transportation and storage.”

It doesn’t mean there will never be a time or place for such donations — check with relief agencies as time passes."
I worked with FEMA after Katrina as an RN, setting up and manning make-shift clinics in Mississippi. Sadly there were tons of clothing and sundries left to rot for 5 months. Best to find a family that you and others can help directly with money/gift cards. Perhaps someone on this site can PM you with names and an address that they can receive mail at. My cousin did this for our family, she lives in CT. People were generous as it was a group of people and they all new where the stuff was going. If you can get your church or some organization you belong to or work for, a $10 or $25 gift card, like Visa, which can be used anywhere for whatever that family needs, from each person who wishes to donate. The money can mount up quick, and the person receiving it will be extremely greatful.

@potato chip , the shelters ? Or even shelters more North of Houston?
I would think the Clothes would be greatly needed.
Plus even Louisiana will need stuff too.
Plus "cleaned and rebuilt" will take years. :(
Saddly the clean and rebuild will take years, hopefully people will come from near and far to help with the clean up and removal of all water logged and molded home insides. Just for edification, bricks hold mold. Hate to tell you that, but better you know, take advantage of what the feds offer, you, your neighbors and all of us pay our taxes so you can get help in your time of need. In other words, you already paid for what ever you get.

T'Marie,
No, ma'am. Air Force brat. Moved all around when growing up. But my teen age years were SW Louisiana.

I was born way north of I-10. Way up yonder (wish I could type the Mamou accent!!) around Shreveport.

Good people. Fell in love & after 25 years, in spite of moving to Houston, we're still together. But I'm not sure it'll last. Ask me in another 25 years.

You can feel the relief in the air. Thanks for the prayers as we sort this out and count our blessings!
Love Mamou, last year one of my best friends took my daughter to visit another friend's mom who lives there. She has a "she shack" in the back yard and they had a great time doing art projects.

UMCOR is a Methodist relief ministry, and 100% of donations go to flood relief. They focus on cleanup and rebuilding efforts, with their most notable contribution being "flood buckets," a 5-gallon bucket stuffed with cleaning supplies. UMCOR also sticks around for years afterward. My dad (Methodist minister) was assigned to Cameron, LA and Grand Chenier after Hurricane Rita (the forgotten storm). His job was mission recovery, and he was there over 5 years.

You were able to drive there?
Glad you're safe and getting out of the house.
:fl for TP!
Yes the road to the store coming from my direction was OK. The same road on the other side is under water. I got TP! There was not a lot of stuff in the store. Zero meat, bread, eggs and milk. Zero. They were announcing that truck loads are on the roads it's just a matter of time to get to my store

Well glad not everyone's thinking of what happens after they eat all their food just yet and you could get tp!

If your chickens are laying I'm sure you'd have lots of interested buyers.

:wee

Do you all down there not keep stores of food and TP/other necessities? I have enough TP on most any given day to last for several months.
