My one tropical storm experience was Typhoon Rita, 1972, on Okinawa. It was a Cat.2 storm, and rolled around for about a week before the eye passed overhead. Us Midwesterners were freaking out, while local folks were pretty blasé about it. On the US base where I lived, things were very organized, and while it was interesting, nobody was at risk because things were managed so well. Doesn't seem the same here! Mary
