Major storm band headed my way (New Orleans), heavy rain and possible tornado headed my way, news says it's moving fast, so hopefully no rain training. Waiting to hear if I will have to drive across town to pick up daughter from school.

I know I have been watching bruce katz saying under tornado warning til 1:30 my problem is I don't have a car to go get my kids

We are all safe for now.
We = my family and close friends.
Some have water in their homes but they are safe.
At this point we are all just trying to stay safe.
Having to stay on the second floor of your home is better then sitting in a crowded shelter right now.
I just found out that a cousin of mine and his family are on the2nd floor of their home in Katy, Tx - the first floor flooded! I thought they were in Florida where they just bought a condo. They are safe so far :fl

I feel for you all... I was living in SC during the "1000 year floods" we experienced and remember not being able to go anywhere and having to boil water and just watching the news in disbelief. The place I worked at we had live animals we weren't able to get to for days! Thankfully I knew they were in the basement so days prior we gave everything extra food and water and moved the cages as high as possible. Was extra fun changing rat cages in shin-deep water. But, most everything turned out ok in the end. Lots of property loses and vehicles swept away but lives lost was minimal which is what really matters.

Try to give yourself a break from the news for your own sanity and get some rest. Stay hydrated and don't forget to eat as well. Check in on your neighbors and do what Texans do best: band together when knocked down to come back stronger as a community.

Thinking of y'all and hope you're safe.

Should also mention one of the main threats during and after disasters are the unscrupulous people who go around and loot. Adds insult to injury, but if you're staying in place be careful since there are some bad eggs out there. As if people going through this need more to worry about, but stay smart and stay safe.

THIRD landfall for Harvey?!?! Never ever heard of such a thing!

Rain here off and on seems mostly off for rest of the day. I am delivering my final load of pullets this afternoon, finally, to the lady nearby who was on vacation. My kid chicken wranglers will be tested.

I got chickens spatchcocked, pork butt, and beef brisket, plus some sausages out on the grill and smoker. Ears of corn soaking to go on later. Pot of beans been going since this morning making the house smell so good it's making everyone hungry. The kids helped bake bread last night, and we made extra cornbread for the beans today. I fried okra and tomatoes and onion rings for lunch and made extra of that too. Amazing how much food we are going through!

Getting the guys geared up for fishing tomorrow. Hope they catch lots! Found some of my red wriggler worms under the covered part of the compost. They seem tired of the rain too!

Looks like I was, sadly, right. I think most of Houston is going to be evacuated by this weekend. Rivers rising and staying at or near record highs. Bayous going down some now, but will go back up. Rain and more rain.

Y'all be safe!
