Three fingers...that's the size of "medicine" @Chickassan puts in her coffee.

(I'm sorry @penny1960 ...for some reason I miss read and thought it was you that spiked your coffee)
that's an old Sicilian lady thing, also. Although I only use it on vacation.

Make coffee essence to keep in the fridge.
Soak a cup of coffee in a quart of warm water overnight. Strain and jar the strong coffee and store in the fridge. Fill a cup of water and add teaspoons of essence to make it suit your taste...heat in microwave. Good made with regular or decaf coffee.
used to do this, it works really well and makes a nice iced coffee in summer. Afraid I use a french press now, and DH makes better coffee than I do

Yes, it does tend to be an all day afair for most of us. Perhaps because alot of it is fresh! I was taught by an old sicilian man! Including all tomatoes must be crushed by hand!!!
Yup and never buy pasta from a store.

My ex MiL was off the boat, grew up on Staten Island. I learned how to make all kinds of stuff that her son wouldn't eat because he was the only Italian I've ever met who didn't eat cheese. Or fish. Or chicken. Or eggs.... Very specific diet, that one.
What in the world DID that goofball eat?
