Impressive, but I still don't know what is in the tea! Hey, it's 4:20 here on Friday that's way close enough here in New Orleans

Normally, it would be Rebecca's Creek Whiskey, but some inconsiderate idiot didn't buy another bottle. So we are cleaning the pantry and using the last little lump in the Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum bottle. <smile>

Edited to add: Every now and then I get a wild hair and throw in a cup or two of bourbon...

Into the brine or the chef? Step one is to marinate the cook! <wink, wink, know what I mean?>

Something you want to talk about? Just say it.

Mmm,Mmmm Grandpa! What's for supper?
Rotisserie, brined yard bird seasoned with lemon pepper (20 more minutes)
Roasted, sliced sweet taters tossed in lard and black pepper
Sautéed onions, broccoli and mushrooms with basil in chicken stock.
I'm thinking Port to drink or stick with spiked hard tea.
HeeHaw!

What is on your table tonight?
What ever they can find.
I take Friday's off.

Yes, I believe this was rule number 1 in the Julia Childs cook book. That's why you should never cook with a wine you wouldn't drink!

I grew up in a time where food was NEVER wasted. If you can't preserve it in some way, then it was eaten by either humans or animals before it went bad. I can't tell you how many times we had fish or wild game for dinner when I was a kid. I thought we were just exotic... It wasn't until I was an adult that I could connect the dots back to steel strikes. As in Dad was not working. Back then, the steel worker's union considered 1 chicken, a pound of beans, a couple pounds of rice, five pounds of four, and a pound of sugar a weeks ration for a family of three. A family of four got two chickens.

It's 5 o'clock somewhere! And I believe I will drink to that!

I work half days on Friday, so IF I have the gumption, we celebrate. I eat leftovers all week at work. And, pardon my modesty, DAMN! I'm a good cook. Now that it's just the 2 of us, I'm still cooking for 5.

Changed the menu and losing weight. And, I might add, looking good doing it! Notice low carb diet, above. The low carb is rough when you like homemade bread, pizza and kolaches.

We were an empty nest for many years and loved it. Nest is no longer empty... Can go either way on a given day--but at least the portion control is no longer a problem. I just offered a lasagna recipe to another BYCer, I can't figure out how to make it small.
