I don't think we have Amish down here...
Um...you should...I believe there is a Texas community. There was a documentary on Rumspringa and I believe they highlighted a Texan community....I could be wrong. I kinda watched it in disbelief since I am in an area with Amish and I had no clue this was a thing.

@Frazzemrat1 You wanna explain pirogi... I'll explain schnitzel. swine or veal, same concept. Most of the folks in my area of Germany ate pork. So think of a fresh ham or basically the same muscles in a cow... So think Eye of round--but pork. Sliced about a 1/2" thick, seasoned with cajun (ya I changed that) seasoning (Tony's), beat it thin, dip it in seasoned flour, then egg wash, then seasoned bread crumbs, then fry in butter with a little canola oil. Can be served plain, with mushroom sauce (Jager) or Hunter Sauce (not even going to try and spell it).

Mine is much shorter of a description.
We call that panne' meat, if that helps anyone.

I don't think so unfortunately. Unlike TX an Fl - our fellow citizens cannot drive to stay with relatives out of the impacted area. And our gov't is not doing all it can to facilitate evacuation by sea or air of those who wish to leave due to lack of food an water. :(

I'v been trying tp follow multiple sources and there is very little good news yet. On the positive side the USS Comfort hostpital and aid ship is now being supplied to head over there. Still no waiver from our gov't for foreign ships to supply aid as was given for Houston and Florida.

Appreciate y'all keeping the light on here while our beloved members remain in danger. :D
Know, in spite of all the humor here, PR remains in my daily prayers!

A desert type pie or a chicken pot pie type pie?
I'm not a fan of sweets.

Except donuts???

I would probably not be able to live without chips and salsa though.

There is NO life after chips and salsa. Breakfast, lunch & dinner. With snacks in between. I need to check the cabinet for the store bought (Clyde's - no that's not it. **Clint's**) that is a WHOLE lot better than Pace, but not as good as El Ranchero's homemade in LaPorte. Served hot. With hot chips. With the smells from the kitchen.

You are killing me, if I ever come to visit, it will have to be crawfish season and I will bring a sack or two of live crawfish and all the fixings, you provide the beer. Now I need to keep reading, as I am way behind!

No! Never volunteer to buy the beer for a crawfish boil. The crawfish can be gone and no one leaves until the beer has evaporated. I only drink 2 kinds of beer. The kind you buy and the kind I buy. I'm picky that way.

We had a restaurant up here for the longest time...it was a Jimmy Buffet joint...not the Margaritaville ones...but they served tortilla chips covered in chocolate sauce and sprinkles.
:love:love:love

Ewww, yuck! What did that chip ever do to you?
I'm with Kiki. Chocolate is optional.

Spice or carrot cake. Cream cheese frosting.
Blueberry or peach cobbler with a dollop of BlueBell!!!! (and a splash of corn liquor)
Sopapillas with honey.
Steaming hot bear claws. (flat donuts covered in cinnamon and apple filling)
