Now that I have caught up on this thread, I may be changing professions. We have people shooting a movie on our block for the next few weeks. (Alex and Me isn't about the parrot, it's about a little girl who plays soccer) So yesterday I spoke with the props person, (as a joke) I asked if they needed any chickens in the movie, cause I could walk mine down for whatever shots they needed and then just walk them home. One person yelled to another, "Hey, I have a chicken wrangler here." They wanted to know if I had a card, like a business card! I am supposed to give them my name and phone number today! :lau:lau:lau:lau Think I am going to do it. My hens could be movie stars! LOL

How very cool for you I say yes GO FOR IT! remember their shades I say

Whelp. Our little girls are maturing. Most doing squats. Combs are blossoming. Feathers are full and shiny. The bottoms are fluffy. Looks like a healthy herd.

For those of you with hen only herds, does one just keep talking? Constantly? Squawk, squawk, squawk. Not the cute little noise. The grating one. Where is the volume control?

Also, when do the girls bulk up? I've got leghorns bigger than the RIR and barred rock girls. Could be hatchery selection. To be fair, the Leghorn crosses, Ideal 236, are the big girls with meat on their bones.
even with roosters they never stop squawking, but a hen may also take on a roosters role as alpha and even start to crow ;) have fun!

Thank you for the compliment, however, I too have that forgetful disease (old timers). I do remember someone saying something to that effect about 100 pages back, though, just don't know who it was. Sorry
OH!! you suffer from CRS as well??

@ Kiki
Sorry!! My bad...hope the weather is good for you tomorrow!

@ Ursuline Chick
That is awesome!!!

@RUNuts
Yep...they can be noisy. My noisiest/loudest is also my smallest. She's some sort of serama/dutch bantam...she fits in the palm of my hand. Hubby was out grilling, came in the house looking very concerned and asked "which one of our chickens is the shrieker who can crack a glass?"
:lau
She probably had laid an egg.

It's nice and sunny out today.
Tomorrow there is only a 90% chance of rain.
