I can freeze left over cooked pumpkin for up to a year, per Penny1960, may be I will bake him a pumpkin pie for his birthday this year!! That would be a hoot, daughter would love to help with that. She likes to cook and bake. She made cookies the size of a small cake plate for her school choir bake sale last week, (I helped so she could get homework done after play practice til 9pm). But she decided on the size, I think they were some of the first to sell!! LOL Everything is $1 at the school bake sale.

she will do well as a baker in her own home years to come with your guidance.. I never had time for this that I can now but recall doing it with Grandma when I was young
people here have encouraged me to bake allot more and have a great time with it now

That top pumpkin has to weight close to 20 pounds..the thing is HEAVY!
If shipping didn't cost so much I would send you a few.
:hugs

Pickup a pressure canner while you're at it:D

We don't have pumpkin sales after Halloween. We run out of pumpkins before Halloween, cheep grocery stores don't want to be left with extra stock and sell it for a $1. You are so lucky. :bow:bow

We don't either. But I got a great deal a couple years ago, so they're canned up and sitting right next to the butternut squash.:drool

Daughter has been helping since she could sit in a highchair, and just look at what I was using, learning all the names for different things and food used in the kitchen, did the samething in produce aisle at grocery. She could cook you a fine meal at 14y/o now.

That's awesome!:thumbsup Mom had me cooking full meals around 7.

ETA: But I did have a LOT of mentors.
Yep, I was told by Mom at 16 I had to make evening meals 3 times a week. But nobody had really shown me much. Luckily we were a very close extended family in those days, my cousin's full Italian Grandfather taught me to make some really yummy italian food from scratch, Daddy was 1/2 Italian and a great help. And when I married (the first time) at 18, first hubby's grandmother took me under her wing. She was a great cook and I still use many of the recipes from those days today, everyone loves them!!!
