Morning all! Getting around to BYC finally as I've been dealing with the tree situation. Apparently the State can cut down trees without permission...on State property...which is the area behind my house but if I take a line between the property markers for the back of our property...they cut down several of our trees, including a big birch tree which was planted by the original owner of the house...who was a landscaper. If the outside branches were an issue...fine...take the branches...not the whole damn tree. Oh...and they didn't even do that....they just cut it in half...so there are two huge tree stalks (?) just sitting there. It took awhile to figure out who to call to yell at but it just went back and forth on Friday. Sat/Sun everything is closed- although someone was cutting off in the distance on Saturday - but that could have been a pissed off homeowner like myself. I'll start again tomorrow. Also, clean up...who does that? Hubby insists they will be back to clean it all up. Since they cut down so many of the trees behind our property, if I stand out on the marsh area, I can see across and see they left all the trees just lying there on that side as well.

All this pumpkin talk is making me hungry! I've only done squash soup or roasted butternut squash. I guess it turned out ok...that was back in single days. I didn't die. :lau
Hubby has been cooking chili since yesterday. He has a race this weekend that is also the guys' chili cook-off. He won 2 years ago but lost last year and that didn't sit well. My concern is he cooked the chili the last 2 years for a looong time...went over the entire weekend. He was done yesterday's in just 3/4 of the day. So....not sure this will be a winner either. He usually gets really fancy but I know this one was only chuck roast, 50 million types of beans, two grocery bags worth of spices and 2 different types of beer. We have the Dogfish Head brewery here, so he only uses that beer. I tasted it...was good but salty to me. I kept my mouth shut as I said this last year and he got HIGHLY offended (and oh look...he lost). I'll find out later tonight what happens.
