Best of luck to you, we're way overdue for a big one here. Hugo was in 1989, since then... not much.

I'm a former Austinite, never had much happening there!

Do find out and do tell. I live near Houston in an area with a lot of old trees. Fewer trees since Ike. We lost 5 huge trees, but none of 'em hit a structure!

Havent had a chance to talk to him. I know he is working 12 hour shifts right now and just sleeping at the office because of all that is going on. He has been thru quite a few in his 20 plus years for the Weather Service. He was in Brownsville in 88 when Gilbert came into Northern Mexico and hit Brownsville pretty hard. My brother lived in Lubbock for over a decade and didnt have to worry about hurricanes but had more than enough tornados to deal with!

Well. ALEX is here... so to speak of...

Thankfully we have no WIND issues... but lots of water... It looks like i live in a tropical RAIN forest... or swamp... the water wont stop comming down...

Death count is at 2 chicks, and about 20 baby quail... I guess there more sensative to storms regarding pressure, or water... or stress.. dont really know... i had them in the porch... but decided to bring them inside... Take a look... Everyone got mixed up in the rush... so I have to sort everyone out after the storm... Ive got peachicks with pheasants, and pheasants with chicks... and quinea with who knows what... everyones making new friends... I hope the rest survive...

Should I be worried about the peafowl and larger birds outside? I mean.. in the wild, it rains... right... adults should be fine? Well, lets see what tomorrow brings... here are the pics of the chicks inside the snake room.... I got some chick hatchery boxes from one of the feed stores...

Please excuse the mess... as you can see in the last to pics.. the chicks look like prisoners!!!

I think I'd be nervous too if I was in a SNAKE ROOM........ hehe. Hope all goes well for you there, you do what you have to in those situations............. I had birds in my Tub and shower and all over, hehe We've been getting a lot of rain here , as far as we are.

Here are the river pictures... in each of the pictures.. you would never see the river... the river is always hidden among the trees... but during hard rainstorms... the river makes herself known...

Again... each pictures should not show the river... The river rose about 20 feet up, and is now about 110 to 120 feet wide.
