Funny you mention that. I live in Naples, and the eye of Irma went right over my house.. My coop survived. I had taken all my chickens with me to my parents in Ft Lauderdale in a dog kennel but when I returned home I was happy my house and my chicken coop was still there and intact. My shed and my roof was too. But according to many who live in GGE with me, they lost their sheds and coops. Not really anyways of making your coop "hurricane proof" besides making sure it's either raised higher for when the water comes in (my yard was flooded 1ft post Irma) and then also to strap down the roof so the wind doesn't pull it up.

I actually just built a new coop that's bigger since I got myself 4 more chickens for a total of 7 (one Roo and 6 hens)

The doors are actually at the far ends, what is in the middle will be a Deep Litter container which will have roosts above it. The small panels will swing down to allow cleaning out into a wheelbarrow. (got idea from Carolina Coops)
Those sure look like big double doors. I figured you'd put a wall there to separate the coop halves, having door access to both coops on both sides.
Truly composting Deep Litter works best with ground contact, what you have there looks like a very deep poop board. Not sure you want to try to compost poop in the coop like that.

After a few years on the board the company I was working for got a few Intergraph EMS CAD system, if my memory serves me Intergraph also sold Microstation. I now manage Creo, SolidWorks & AutoCAD for 300+ users.
Yep.

Yep.

Was thinking of perhaps having it on the ground but was following how Carolina Coops has their deep litter container?

Build the structure away from trees. Irma caused us major tree damage. We were basically trapped in our neck of the woods from toppled over trees for days. The FEMA trucks just came about 3 weeks ago and took away the debris along our roads. No matter how sturdy the construction is, a falling tree will take out any structure. Good luck to you... :)

Carolina Coops & American Hemp & Deep Litter Method
Ehhh.....slick advertising for the hemp product they are trying to sell.
IMO, they are misusing the term 'deep litter'....couple other iffy statements too.
They don't really describe how many birds or how deep the hemp is.

Did you look at the deep litter link I posted before?
Here's a good explanation on the difference between deep bedding and deep litter.
