hurricane Ike in OHIO

OHCHICK
Hope things have quieted down for you
Did you get your wires taken care of?
We were without electric for 7 hours had a few limbs down We were lucky
We were at our DD and SIL's this afternoon and they had a tree go down and took down about 30 feet of privacy fence.
The ride home was interesting we had to watch for limbs and such on the roads
We are lucky we live where we do. aren't we??
Everyone stay safe!!!

it started comeing through here about 8pm last night. was rainy looking all day but didn't do anything. on the way home from picking my son up from town there was branches on the roadways. on the way home our van was blowing all over the road. we made it home safe and all 5 kid's r fineally tucked in after being scared half to death worring about the storm gonna hit. 2 fire alarms have went off tonight at weird times too. we'll find out tomarrow how bad it was.

we've lost power 5 times now but still have electric. some of my family accross town and 5 miles away haven't had power for a few hours now. our town half of it lost power at once and i haven't seen it back on yet.

it was really bad for awile there with high winds but has slowed down alot, i'm not sure if we r in the calm of the storm and more is to come or what. we have never had weird weather like this before or ever seen the sky look as it did earlier or now.

ur all in our hearts and prayers, this is nothing compaired to down south or directly in it's path and it's even scareing us all the way up here from the effects.
hugs to all and keep safe!

You are all in my prayers, we are lucky here that although we get what we British call severe weather, it is nothing like what you guys experience in the US. Keep safe, hope you cat comes back and the alpacas are o.k. Keep us updated.........xx

Still waiting on the rural electric co-op to show up. I had a rather sleepless night getting up every hour to check on the barn. The kitty did show up last night, meowing and purring like crazy, I think she was just terrified.

We're about 20 mins from St. Paris so you probably had it about the same as we did. We're right near Yankee Hill, so the highest point in the state, it's windy here on a normal day.

Certainly made for a wild Sunday.

*Yea! Kitty!! Well, they are finally starting to show some pics of Galveston this morning, and it's real bad-- Reminiscent of Homestead after Andrew. . .

I don't think I know where Yankee Hill is
Give me a landmark!lol
I didn't think ahead and I may need to run around ohio looking for gas
Alot of the pumps in Belle and Springfield are closed
Maybe in St Paris I'm sending the car with my hubby tonight to fill it (if there is gas in
St. paris.)
Just call my boss and say don't have gas (didn't plan ahead) No work from me lol

Our local schools did not have classes today. (I home school so it does not affect me

) Anyways, we did not loose electric but my sister did. She contacted the power company and they told her 5 to 7 days before she may get her power back!!!! She is having flash blacks to the ice storm of 2004! I had power then too. She was with out for 14 days. Anyways hope all i well over your way. We had lots of limbs, branches, and trees down. We lost lots out of our garden. And the wind ripped our coop door in half!!!

Thank the Lord no one was hurt here. All of my family and livestock were safe and sound!!!

We didn't have school here today either - no power. My brother and SIL who live 2 miles south of me haven't had power since 6pm last night. She rented the last generator the rental place had. Mom and dad were going over there tonight and stopped here to pick up some candles for them (we make them). Usually we're the first to lose power so I feel very lucky. Just spent hours bundling up branches from my yard. My vegetable stand was blown over and the plywood sign was two doors down against a house. Otherwise, fortunately, all is well here.

Well, Ike went through yeaterday. Wind were gusting up to 75 mph in Anna,Oh..I live on the out skirts of Sidney, Oh. I lost power at 2:35pm yeaterday got it back today at 11:30am..I use to live in the southeast. I know hericanes, and how bad they can be even after heading inland. good to see it is gone.
