Hi all, I'm glad everyone is okay. We didn't have any serious damage, thank goodness, just lots and lots of limbs and a gazillion hickory nuts in the yard. The last time I saw first hand damage like what Ike caused was in '92 in Hurricane Andrew. We lived in Baton Rouge then and it was bad enough there that I said I never wanted to be in one again, and whaddya know, we had stronger sustained winds here than Andrew! I thought I was safe in Ohio! Ha!
Our power was only off for 12 hours (one of the benefits of living 3 miles away from Honda), but our ISP was down until a half hour ago. Our son, DIL and 2 grandkids who live in Springfield had to come stay with us last night until their power is restored. They have a well and finally gave up trying to deal with a 2-year-old and a 2-month-old without water. I've been trying to cook up some of the food that was in their fridges and freezer. You might know they had just bought groceries on Saturday before the storm.
