Funny enough, my uncle has a summer house that is on Fenwick Island, DE. The are being evacuated because of the storm but they have always called their house Irene, the name of the previous owner.

When they say have extra water stored..etc..
I'm not sure how that works... i can see people with wells and pumps...(in case power goes out)
But what about those of us on town water?? Do we still need to store extra water??
I know dumb question..

I would, just in case the town's water is contaminated during the storm (think flooding). Gather up any empty containers and fill them. Also, fill up your bathtub. That water is a life saver in the event that you lose power since you can use it to bathe and flush your toilet.

Sometimes the town water will still run depending on the damage. Sometimes it is contaminated and sometimes the water plant has no power.

I'm pretty sure that people on city water should store water the most. If the city water goes out due to storms, there isn't even a well to go to to get water from. Figure a gallon of water per person, per day.

And the whole sewer line mixing with water line thing is a good point. Knowing where you water shut off is can help keep literal crap out of your pipes.
