Hurricane Irene - Watch out East Coast

For all you guys who are going to get hit: bring those chickies and animals inside! Please!! Better a little poop to clean up, than bodies after the storm.

Hope every person and animal stays safe..good luck!!

And everyone who does get hit; please update us on how you're doing once it's over. (or once power is restored)

Wow mandatory evacuation already in place for the shore. State of emergency declared. No water left on the shelves of anywhere and don't try to find flashlights or batteries in any store. The line at the gas station was forever. I figure if this is what is like now, Irene will pass like Rapture.

Thanks guys!! We're filling stuff up now... we have some extra garbage barrels (not in use anymore) that we'll bleach and scrub out for the animals water..and the geese pools..etc..
I hope we dont loose power... ugh! I have 4 big freezers full of food.

They said on t.v to freeze baggies water to help keep your freezers/fridge colder in case power goes out... guess i'll do that also...

I went up to Walmart today because I needed to get some spagetti sauce for dinner tonight. It was INSANE! People body to body, the shelves were nearly empty, and I heard one young lady (with a great deal of common sense

) say : "I have ramen noodles soup I can cook if the power and electricity goes out." I asked her if she had a camp stove or something similar and she said "No, I have a microwave"

On the flip side, I have a grocery delivery coming tomorrow afternoon. I have absolutely no intention of hauling myself out of the house and fighting traffic and panicy peoples. We have plenty of batteries, candles, water, etc. I'm having sandwich foods, and things that need no stove prep delivered. I figure it won't kill us to eat peanut butter and jelly or fresh fruits for a few days. Tomorrow morning I'm going to section off part of the laundry room for my two big peeps that are out in the coop. I'll lay down a couple of sheets, pop up the baby gates, and make sure they have a turned over box to hide in, plenty of fresh water and food. For the cats, they'll stay downstairs with me. The fish are fish and I think they'll be fine. I loaded up on "comfort food" as well. Chocolate, chips, marshmallows (gotta have smores if there's a power outage!)etc. I figure if we lose power we'll make it like a camp out for my kiddo so she'll be at ease.

Sounds like you have it all together. Great idea about the camp out. Glad you are making a place for your big peeps. I feel for everyone who has livestock at this time. Be safe.
