Husband was laid off.... again.

this has really been making me mad because my mother has 5 children and she was just also layed off. and its hard because she has to support 5 children herself and her mother and my chickens which arnt to much but still we now have foodstamps for food but its been really hard on her im just praying she get another job. and im sorry about your mishap to

It awful- tons of people are laid off- when you have small kids it makes it worse. You can't even find a fast food job around here. My DH took a buy out before he ended up laid off- now he can't find work. He's been looking since August and nothing.

Things aren't going to look up any time soon..I feel for every one. Pointing fingers isn't going to solve anything..people are so quick to do that. Including me.. It won't fix anything. Does any one have any ideas that might make things better? We are almost at rock bottom. What can we do as individuals to help make things better? I wish we could come up with something great that would help or actually resolve the economy problems.

Explain to me how that is the GOV'T's responsibility? This is exactly what I'm talking about. Bailing out the people that got themselves into hot water through bad decisions hurts the rest of us that make good financial decisions and plan for the worst with a contingency plan. I don't feel a lick of sympathy for the people that thought they could play the housing market and win. That's like going to Vegas and expecting to come back a millionaire. Never gamble more than you can afford to lose. Like a baby with a hot surface, some lessons need to be learned the hard way. Now we as a country are rewarding bad financial decisions? Please.

You just reiterated my point. I don't understand why it feels like we are on opposite sides of the issue. It's obvious to me you know exactly what I'm saying. Those people need to learn too. The learning curve should be steep with consequences. CC companies are here to make money, this country is founded on FREE ENTERPRISE. What do you get if you take that away? Socialism. Sorry, but I'll take my chances with the "predatory lending" any darn day of the week over socialism. Do the legwork, read ALL CONTRACTS in their entirity before you sign on the line. A credit card is a contract. Legal and binding, like any other contract.

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS PEOPLE!

Any time you sign a document it is your own responsibility to know what it is you are signing. Making excuses about how people didn't know is not the way for them to learn. More unearned rewards.

Totally agree!

Barter more. Do what you can to get by with the eventual goal of getting out of debt. Become a Dave Ramsey fan and get started on your debt snowball.....

Definity- go with DAve Ramsey!!!

I don't know who Dave Ramsey is. Joyce Meyers had a lot of good points last week on her show. Every one needs to look in there house hold..my husband likes {LOVES} to spend money, while I am very tight with money. I had an emergency fund that he did not know about. It has paid our bills. Every one needs an emergency fund. If I hadn't did what I did we would be behind, but we are not. I grew up poor..was never tought how to pay bills or how to manage money. Mom and Dad would order things and not pay for them, they wouldn't pay there bills and bill collectors is all I remember...it was like it was ok to cheat people and not pay your bills. That is not okay! I was lucky enough to find some one to teach me how to manage money, live WITHIN my means, BUDGET and know the difference between a want or a need. A want I can live with out and if I needed something I bought it. But, I really had to need it. It all comes down to disciplin. I also get help and wisdom from Our Heavenly Father. I sincerely do. So who is Dave Ramsey?

He teaches to get out of debt, live on less than you make, have an emergency fund, and save for retirement among other things.

Sorry, Wifezilla. I am a *slow* typist!
