This is a thread for little stories about the spouse -- mostly DH, but if there's a DW out there that fits the bill, by all means, spill it!

The kids ~n~ marriage thread reminded me of some 'marriage' stories.

I got married 11 years ago to the truly nicest guy in the world.

A few years later, I had a favorite pair of dark blue light cotton slacks covered in tiny brightly-colored flowers. I wore them everywhere 'cause I had gained a few pounds and they were comfortable. I thought they looked great.

I always asked DH if I looked ok when we were getting ready to go somewhere, and he always said "you look wonderful", no matter what I was wearing.

One day I was hopping mad because I was going through my closet trying on one thing after another and just did not feel good in anything.

DH said "what's the matter honey?"

I said "I don't have a frikkin' thing to wear!"

He said "Oh, well... hey, why don't you wear your clown pants!"

ROFL, funny. Probably wasn't at the time, But funny to read.

I know I have some stories, but I can't think of a thing right now. DH is a great guy. HArd working and loving. We've been together for oh, gosh...16 years..or so. MArried for nearly 11

That is great!!!!

My fiance recently told me that all women are the same once you flip them over. I was like WHAT???? Which side? He said, "Does it matter?"

He is such a redneck!

A few weeks later he actually asked me "where are your flower pants?" I'm like, "uhh.... you mean my CLOWN pants, don't ya?"

Does anyone think I ever wore those slacks again??

And I had worn them for the whole five months I was in China. sigh.

my friends mom asked us that once when she was getting ready to go out...you know, if her bottom looked big in those pants?

and she turned around with her head over her shoulder.

i looked and in all seriousness said....yeah.

she came and pummelled me. MY MOMMA told me NOT TO LIE!

My wonderful hubby and I have been married for going on 25 years. I don't know of another man that could have lived with me that long. We've got 50 more years to go and then I'll call it good.

Anyway, he wasn't too keen on my getting chickens or goats and 'highly' encouraged me not to. So about six months after I get my chickens I find him standing at the patio door looking out at the chicken coop. I asked him what he was thinking about. He says, "well, I think we need more chickens, so I figure if I rotate that roof we can add onto the west wall of the coop next spring and you can order some more chicks! Like I was going to argue with that.

Last spring he added on another 8x8 area and I got more chicks.

He was really against me getting goats last spring but, because he loves me so much, he allowed me to get 2 for my birthday. He wanted nothing to do with them. That lasted for about two weeks. He found out that he absolutely loves those goats. He's said that he thinks goats are his favorite animal! Well, even with that he didn't want me to get milk goats this summer/fall. But, again, he relented and after a month or so said that I could get two more, if I really wanted. I brought home a doe who is pregnant and the next day the temperatures dipped into the single digits here and it was snowing. She started shivering so I put in a temporary stall inside the barn (she was in an inside/outside stall and my head goat wouldn't let her inside) with her wether brother where she was completely protected and warm. I told my husband what I was doing when he called home from work while on his break. A few hours later, on his next break, he calls home and gets me out of bed (he worked nights) just to make sure she was doing Ok because he was so worried about her.

Isn't he the sweetest!

A couple of weeks ago I was walking around in my undies and a t-shirt, I had just got out of the shower. Knothead DH comes in and says "Oh, those are cute hon, aren't those the ones you got from the hospital?" (I had surgery in May) And he was serious!! I looked at him with tears in my eyes and told him what a jerk he was and that no they were NOT from the hospital that I had bought them because they were comfortable!! His eyes got really big and the apologies started flowing from his big mouth. It hurt at the time but now it's kind of (just a little) funny.

Yes that is sweet. As much a neanderthal my fiance can be, he is always concerned about my happiness.

We bought the 6 laying birds at the end of August. The following weekend we went to the feed store and he told me to pick out a couple chicks. So I picked out two. He said that isn't enough, these are flocks birds, so we came home with 6.

Then about 6 weeks ago, back in the feed store again, he asked if I wanted any of the Ameraucana's they had there, so again I grabbed two. Not enough, get 4. So those are in the brooder.

4 weeks ago, he took me to the shelter to adopt a cat because he knows I am sad without a cat.

Today he told me he just wants me to be happy, that's why he did ALL that!!!!

I told he better stick with giving me kisses or we will need a 40 acre farm.....

That Guy, who I do not yet live with, kind of eyerolled when I got the first six Coturnix. He started teasing me about being the crazy quail lady when I got four Button quail. When I got up to 9 Coturnix and 7 Buttons, he put his foot down and said "Absolutely no more!"

I bought a 'bator.. to just hatch Button eggs. He was ok with that, they're tiny, they can live together in the huge cages we have for them. I wanted to hatch one egg of each pair of Coturnix to see what came out the other side of the egg. Again with the eye rolling and teasing about being the crazy quail lady.

Who is it that calls every day to find out if the eggs have hatched? Which of us is it who spends hours in front of the wall affectionately known as The Quail Channel, calling out little play by plays of what the quail are doing? Which of us went online and looked at quail pictures and then excitedly said we had to get at least a pair "with deelyboppers on their heads"? Who has decided that my idea for a portable coop, divided into areas for each Coturnix pair, isn't big enough and has redesigned it and will be helping me build it in the spring?

Right. Him. No apparently does not really mean no in our little animal crazy family

Now, his reaction is, "Well at least it wasn't another cat.."

And to top it off, when I mentioned getting Bantams this spring, Himself again said, "NO! Absolutely no chickens!" .. and two days later, "These little Seramas.. they're the size of your quail! Think we could put some in with the quail? Would they get along?"
