17 days old now, and still looking very JC-y. Prreeeeetty worried I might have ended up putting a wrong egg in the incubator at this point. Stitch is now the same size as my adult CP quails. Still tiny next to the JC though. I was trying to make just a size comparison video but then got caught off guard by a surprise behaviour: mounting. Specifically, Stitch mounting Cookie, one of my adult hens. Safe to say I was not expecting it. I've never seen chicks show dominating behaviours like this before aside from the occasional toe peck.

I'm almost certain Stitch is a hen, her chest feathers are all in and are extremely spotty, no room for mistake there. Has anyone else ever seen this behaviour with little chicks before, is this normal?
Is Stitch alive now? Is there a photo of her? Do you have an adult size photo?

Considering this thread is four years old, even if a hybrid managed to have a normal lifespan (which is extremely unlikely), it probably wouldn't still be around now.

Also, the person you're replying to hasn't been on here in almost three years.

It's okay with me. I was just wondering if she was alive. Or rather, I wanted to see her adult self. She doesn't have to be alive. After all, it's not every day you see a hybrid of Chinese painted quail and Coturnix, and it's not one you'll find easily online.
