were shipped on Tuesday morning(all 27 of them!), tell me when they get there!
Whoa. What kind of eggs are those?
Quote:The dark grey ones are Cayuga eggs, the brown ones are mostly Buff Orpington, or eggs from my cochin/silkie mix, the blue/green ones are from my easter eggers, and the 2 white ones are from both my buff laced polish and my silver laced polish.
I love the look of those Cayuga eggs. At first they looked like dark grey stones. Very pretty!
Quote:The first egg she layed was jet black, and as she got further in the season they turned grey. And the cayuga eggs will either be mixed with pekin or muscovy.
I love muscovies. I just attempted a hatch with a dozen eggs from someone on here and only one hatched... the others didn't even develop. :-(
Aw, I'm sorry, maybe the shiping was just too much for the eggs. I'm not sure about these eggs because muscovies take 35 days to have while domestic ducks take 28, and the offspring would probably be infertile, so it'll be a surprise to see what happens.
Yeah, that should deffinately be interesting to see what happens.
I just found this article on crossing muscovies with domestic ducks, and the eggs take 32 days to hatch.
Wow, that's very interesting! And good to know. The story about the hen was bittersweet.
