I-25 Egg Train

I have eggs due to hatch tomorrow, Barred Rocks from Good Shephard, Marans (if they hatch) from DMRippy, and Silkies from my flock. I know a couple of Silkies are already spoken for.

I will ask Wendell about getting more Dominegger eggs, I think I still have 2 of those chicks in the coop but I have a lady coming Friday to look at them, she wants them for her grandson who wants a chicken that lays green eggs (these should be Olive eggers).
Thanks.
My broody has only been broody for 4 or 5 days now, but I think she is pretty committed. She has never been broody before. I wonder if she would just hatch some of Wendell's eggs? I've never had a broody hatch eggs. I've only given them chicks.
Thanks for checking with Wendell!
I really want a barred EE or barred naked neck.

I'd be interested in a maran if it hatches.

Thanks.

If he has eggs do you want the eggs or any chicks I hatch from them? If she's committed I'd let her hatch the eggs, why not? Broodies have a batter hatch rate than incubators, in my experience at least.

Okey dokey, suncatcher is too, I will let you both know what I wind up with - so far 1 hatched 1 pipped of the 7 that made it to the hatcher, today is day 21 so that's pretty good, actually, I've been told Marans usually don't hatch until day 22 or 23. Hoping the rest hatch as well.

I didn't realize they were hatching right now. That's great you already have 1 and another pipped. None of our eggs hatched under our broody (not her fault - it was an incubation period racked with problems) but I don't think she'll give up until she has some chicks. Too bad we'll be out of town until they are a week old. I wonder if they'd be too big to put under her at that time. I will probably have to find her something to take care of after all that work she put in!

I have heard of some people having luck with chicks that old but it's never a guarantee, and the last thing you want to do as you prepare for your move is brood chicks, I would think. I should have some hatching close to the time you'll be home, we can touch base closer to that day. I just moved some eggs to the hatcher due Friday, Silkies, and I think the next due after that will be hatching on, or next to, next Tuesday. I'm at work and my spreadsheet is at home but I'll check with I get home. Won't be Marans though, these eggs are shipped, received 16, 7 made it to the hatcher, we shall see what hatches.

Maggiemo, Wendell said he will start saving eggs if you want some, if we can find them a ride to you. I think he charged me $10/dozen, I would assume you don't really want that many though, do you?

No. But I can pay him for a dozen. Is he not online, too busy?
I would drive down maybe Thursday, if he has 4 or 5 by then. If the eggs could make it to Denver though, that would be great.
Thanks.

He is pretty busy right now. Last minute, but if he has that many by tomorrow, I have to drive to Denver on a work mission, maybe we could meet? I have to go to the DADS landfill on Gun Club Road.

ETA: Just got a message he only collected 3 eggs today, so if you want to wait we'll see if we can set up some other way to get them to Denver.

I just got a swarm call (bee swarm). I need to retrieve the swarm and get it installed before the storms this afternoon. Then, I work the Farmers Market (in the storm no doubt, fun) this afternoon/evening. I can just drive to him tomorrow mid-day....(anybody in Denver/Boulder need anything from the Springs?).
I wonder if he isn't at home if he can leave the eggs in the shade somewhere and I can leave money?
I'll pm you my phone # thanks.
